Mark Manley's RARB bio

What's happenin'! I'm Mark, known to a select few by my last name, "Manley." Others call me "Man-Dogg", "Markatron" or "Knox" (as in the Fort). I am a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in English and Music.

Singing with UVA's Academical Village People (AVP) was, by far, the most enjoyable thing I did in college. In addition to being terrific singers, AVP was the most fun group of guys to hang out with imaginable. I was the group's Musical Director for two years, and I co-produced two albums--Gracias, Por Favor! (Hon. Mention RARB Picks of '01) and Room Zero (nominated for CARA Best Male Collegiate Album, 2002). I wrote my senior Music major thesis about issues collegiate a cappella groups face in the recording studio.

I'm still surprised that I was given the CARA for Best Male Collegiate Soloist in 2001, as well as a nomination for Best Arrangement in 2002.

I was fortunate to have been given the best post-graduation gift I could ever ask for: Singing with The Hyannis Sound -- a group of 10 guys who live in a house all summer in Cape Cod and get to perform shows practically seven days a week as a summer job. In Fall 2003 I relocated yet again to Boston and I've been freelancing as teacher and advisor to the Stonehill College Girls From the Hill, whose talent and hard work have kept me happily busy.
