I graduated in 1994 from the U. of Miami (Florida) with a degree in Music Engineering Technology. While down at Miami, I was in a five man a cappella group called, appropriately enough, Phive Men A cappella. I also had the opportunity to be the sound man for UM's Jazz Vocal Ensemble, one of the finest (if not the finest) collegiate vocal jazz groups in the country. Along with my coursework in audio and general music subjects, I studied jazz vocal arranging with Larry Lapin (head of Miami's jazz vocal department), as well as orchestration and big band arranging. I am originally a trumpet player, and got into singing through my involvement in the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.
Since graduation, I have been working as a sound designer and audio engineer on various interactive titles and broadcast television projects. I no longer sing with a cappella groups, but I still play trumpet and keyboards, and do composing/arranging and the occasional live sound gig.
My musical tastes tend to be extremely eclectic — along with a cappella music, I listen to orchestral (late romantic to modern), jazz, polka, lounge, minimalism, funk, film scores, various ethnic music, and more. My non-musical pleasures include growing bonsai trees, various computer and net related activities, cooking, and seeing lots of wacked movies.
